Melbourne Beach Founders Day

Melbourne Beach Founders Day

May, 2018 Melbourne Beach’s annual event Founders Day will be taking place! Founded back in 1883 by Mayor Cyrus Graves, our town of Melbourne Beach has a lot of history. Each year on the first Saturday of May the town gets together to celebrate this momentous event.  The day begins at 7:30am with the annual Two-Mile Bulldog Run beginning at Ryckman Park, right across the street from the Seaglass Inn! Following the run will be the 29th annual Pineapple Surf Contest down the road at Ocean Park beach. Other events include a Canoe and Kayak race, a Paddleboard race, and the fun spirited Captain Rufus Recycle Regatta, which challenges participants to build their own rafts using all recyclable and recycled materials. Also, the M.O.R.G.A.N. Project hosts the Turtle Splash race! Throughout the day participants can adopt rubber turtles which have numbers on the bottom. Then in the afternoon, the turtles are let loose into a course down the river and the owners of the first 10 turtles to cross the finish line earn awesome prizes! All money earned goes to the M.O.R.G.A.N. project, an organization designed to promote awareness and facilitate support of children with special health care needs and their families. You can visit  for more information on the race.

Along with these great events there’s so much else to do! Local venders flock to Ryckman Park to show off their craft at the art fair. A car show features beautiful antique and classic cars. Other events include a hot dog eating contest, a talent show, food vendors, corn hole competitions, and fun activities for the kids! Then after dusk, Ocean Avenue shuts down for a fun street party featuring live bands and dancing! .

Visitors from all over Brevard flock to this family-friendly celebration each year. There is something for everyone to enjoy! The best part is that it’s located right outside the Seaglass Inn! So come spend a relaxing weekend away from home with us here at the Seaglass Inn while also getting to experience the fun filled Melbourne Beach tradition of Founders Day.

Meet the Innkeepers

Meet the Hosts of This Luxurious Seaglass Inn B&B

Karl and Alison Brenner own and operate the Seaglass Inn, a premier award winning Bed and Breakfast, located in Melbourne Beach of this historic barrier island off Florida’s north coast.

A Letter from the Owners & Innkeepers of the Seaglass Inn

Welcome to the Seaglass Bed & Breakfast Inn located on Melbourne Beach, one of Florida’s first barrier islands, and within the charming historic town of Melbourne.

After many years in the corporate hospitality industry and traveling the world, we decided to search for a different lifestyle.  We think the property is a gorgeous property and feel very blessed that we have the opportunity and privilege to take care of such an enchanting place.  Everything about it is magical…  From the history of the house, to the small historic village downtown, to the endless miles of beaches and beautiful trails.  The moment we drove into Melbourne Beach we fell in love with the community and when we walked into the Inn it felt like we had come home.

This place has it all. It provides rest and relaxation for guests longing to escape, celebrate special occasions or looking to explore natures wonders.  Melbourne Beach is a quaint historic seaside village alongside the India Atlantic River with beautiful restored houses and Antebellum homes along side by the sea and the Intracoastal Waterway and all the wonders that north Florida’s beaches have to offer.  We are very passionate about the wonderful history of Melbourne Beach and all that the barrier island has to offer guests who visit.  When you walk through the doors of the Seaglass Inn, it is like stepping back in time with a surprise of a modern Key West feel in the Courtyard that awaits you.  As innkeepers, our specialty is personalized service, delicious breakfasts, and hands-on attention to create a relaxing getaway, luxurious yet comfortable.  Seaglass Inn is a place of rest, retreat and shared memories. Whether you want to experience the numerous activities found nearby, read that special book, get reacquainted with that special person in your life or just relax and stroll the historic shops and dine in our wonderful restaurants.  Our goal is to make this experience your best you have had.

We are always working hard to make the Seaglass Inn the finest bed & breakfast in Melbourne Beach with the highest standards for quality and service which has been rewarded the prestigious AAA 4 Diamond reward, 5 years in a row.  We enjoy meeting guests from all walks of life and creating for them an experience they will share with friends and family.  We take pride in the elegance, comfort, beautiful settings and unique furnishings of our guest rooms.

Come join us at Melbourne Beach Florida, where we look forward to sharing our Seaglass Inn Bed and Breakfast, and home, with you.

See you soon,

Karl and Alison Brenner
