Breast Friends of Florida is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for female cancer patients. Their main aim is to teach friends and families of women with cancer how to offer the best emotional, physical, and spiritual support possible. “One in eight women will be diagnosed, and the other seven will know her. Our goal is to reach the seven in order to help the one” (Breast Friends Organization). Becky Olson and Sharon Henifin, the founders of Breast Friends, are both cancer survivors who through first hand experience realized just how many friends and family of cancer victims want to help but are not always able to effectively do so. So in 2000, they got together to create this organization with the mission statement of “helping women survive the trauma of breast cancer… one friend at a time.”

Breast Friends began in Oregon but has now spread to Pennsylvania and Florida as well. The organization is constantly hosting different events to spread awareness and The SeaGlass Inn is honored to have the opportunity to be a part of one of the Florida events happening in October!

On Sunday, October 4th, Breast Friends of Florida will be hosting the 6th Annual Bikers for Breasts Ride for the Girls! The event will be hosted at Indian Motorcycle of Melbourne located at 820 S Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne Beach, FL 32901. Registration begins at 8:30 am and costs $15 which includs lunch. Kickstands go up at 10:00! Along with the escorted ride, there will be tons of vendors and raffles! It will be a great time for a great cause so if you would like to show your support for this incredible organization then we would love to see you at this event! Breast cancer is a disease which is close to our heart here at The SeaGlass Inn and we are thrilled to be able to donate a nights stay at our beautiful bed and breakfast in support of this important cause!
